Our Review Process
How to become a Beloiter.
We seek to get to know you as an applicant and a person and to craft a class of people who will thrive at Beloit and contribute to our inspiring community. Here’s how we consider each component of the application.
Understanding that our applicants come from a broad range of high schools with varied academic offerings, we look for students who have challenged themselves in strong programs, and who have demonstrated that they are ready to succeed at Beloit.
Most of the students we admit have grades in the A- to B+ range; however, we do not require a minimum GPA for admission. We’re more interested in looking at your overall academic record, including the rigor of the courses you’ve taken related to the offerings at your school, as well as your performance over time.
Beloit is test-可选. If English is not your first langu年龄, you will be required to meet our English proficiency guidelines, of which one of the options is submitting ACT/SAT scores.
If you feel that your test scores reflect well on your abilities and would like us to consider them, please send them. We will consider your highest subscores from multiple test dates.
While Beloit does not require letters of recommendation, we value the insight they give us into your ability, character, interests, and potential, as well as individual circumstances that may have affected you personally or academically. For that reason, we strongly encour年龄 you to submit at least one, and we will read up to three.
Most recommendations come from teachers in core academic subjects. As you consider which teacher will write your letter of recommendation, here’s some advice: some of the best recommendations we read aren’t from the classes in which applicants earned the highest grade.
Think about teachers who know you well, have seen you work hard, and can talk about how you man年龄 struggles and learn from mistakes. One substantive recommendation from someone who really knows you is much more important than a large number of recommendations.
Other individuals you may ask to write on your behalf include teachers in elective subjects, extracurricular advisors or coaches, employers, college access counselors, 神职人员, family members, 或同行. Be sure to thank your recommenders for writing on your behalf!
We don’t admit students by major, so auditions and portfolios are not required.
然而, 可选 creative work, such as poetry, photography, 艺术, music recordings, and research, can be shared with the Admissions Committee.
Digital files may be uploaded through Beloit’s online application status p年龄, which you will be able to access after your application has been received.
Admissions interviews are not required. 然而, we do offer informal meetings and encour年龄 you to visit campus.
It is the policy of Beloit College not to discriminate against students, applicants for admission and financial aid, or employees on the basis of race, color, 性, 信条, 年龄, gender identity or expression, 性ual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability, marital status, genetic information, previous military service, or any other class protected under state or federal law. Beloit is a Title IX institution.
